More than just a tennis tournament

The West Highland Tennis Championships are as much about off-the-court socialising as it is on-court action. There are events organised for every evening of the tournament so that players have  fun and relax.

Social programme

All competitors are provided with use of Atlantis Leisure Sports Centre at complimentary rates .Atlantis Leisure boasts a swimming pool with water flume, fitness suite, squash courts and sports hall offering all-weather sports from archery to table tennis.

The social programme is as follows:

 

Sunday 26th June  – Argyll Day

Welcome brunch for players from Oban and wider Argyll area

Monday 27th June – Welcome Reception

Provides an opportunity for local competitors to enjoy tea/ coffee and cake after play has finished for the evening.  See Tournament Information page for details of the evening events where you can turn up and play.

Friday 1st July – Quiz Night

Teams battle it out for the honour of West Highland Week’s smartest. This takes place in the Rowantree Hotel – 5 minutes walk from the courts.

Saturday 2nd July – BBQ Burger Night and Council Reception

BBQ Burger Night – Burgers will be available from 7pm with the Council reception about 9.30pm (depending on play timings).

Our thanks go to Argyll & Bute Council for their support in providing refreshments and a meal after all the hard work you’ve been putting in on the courts.

Sunday 3rd July – Finals & Prizegiving

Prior to the finals starting there will be a short opening ceremony at 12 o’clock recognising the significance of the new courts to the West Highland Championships.

The finals that follow will, as always, provide tension and an excellent display of high-quality tennis. Spectators very welcome.

Note – Atlantis Leisure and Oban Tennis and Squash Club are planning a formal opening ceremony later in September.
